George
Mark Children's House
* A PIONEER... in
creating and providing a new model of family-centered pediatric
care for families with seriously ill or dying children.
* FREE... to all families.
* A CHAMPION... for increasing access to its model of pediatric
palliative care.
* A HOME-LIKE REFUGE... for families whose children are the
most
seriously ill or dying.
* HERE...for as long as families need us.
GMCH's family-centered, life-affirming philosophy
acknowledges the terrible stress a child's serious illness places on
every family member, and provides services to support parents and siblings,
as well as the seriously ill child. The ultimate goal of the House
is to assist families in remaining intact, functional and capable of
achieving the highest quality of life together in the midst of extreme
circumstances.

Abode Services
They have been active for 20 years.
Sixty-six people may live
there for up to
3 months -- men, women & children. Our
concern is the
Federal Emergency Shelter
Grant Program has denied a grant for
$267,195.00
for the 2 years in financial
support to the 66 bed facility. Without
this
funding, Abode may have to close the shelter
from 10 AM to 6 PM,
which would make it
useless to residents who work night jobs and
sleep
during the day. Anothere result may be
to eliminate wight full-time positions
and
close four homes for families transitioning
from homelessness in
Hayward. There will be
a Behind the Scenes Tour of the Sunrise
Village
Emergency Shelter on Wednesday's
February 10 and 17 from 1-2 PM at
588
Brown Road.
Please sign up on the pink clipboard in the
narthex if you
are interested.
Other ways to help:
Bicycle helmets (Adults & Children)
New wash clothes and bath towel
New beanies caps (Adults & Children)
New white socks (all sizes)
New umbrellas
Large plastic storage bins
Gift cards for shoes, groceries, new car seats, formula, diapers
Container will be available for your donations next week.
